Dolby

Well done for meeting the deadline for your 1st draft. Think about using close-ups from the start so that the artist is being promoted and there is a connection with the audience from the start.

Second draft of music promo

This is my second draft, I have made some small changes in order to perfect what I have already got. First of all, I have added some more footage that I filmed in my second filming. This footage starts at 1.33 and I have got my artist to walk down a long pathway with some trees in the background. Although this is still outside, there is a change of scenery and I think keeping this part of the video outside creates contuinuity and makes the video flow together better. I have also cut off the end of the song as I at the end there was a lot of time where there was just music, as I mentioned in my planning I have cut the end of the song as it is very long and I think my music video will work better finishing on the part where the artist is humming.

Mrs D

You have some good photos here. Put some reflection up regarding their pros and cons. I like the front cover image on the digipak. The integration of text needs work though. Don't forget your deadline for music promo first draft is this afternoon at 4.

Fourth draft of digipak

I have now added the name of the artist and the name of the album to the top half of the spine, this is making it even clearer for the audience to see who's album this is and the branding is more proffessional. I have moved the text on the front cover 'Coco' and 'Colbie Callait' are now more to the right of the album cover, so that the text is more integrated and the artists' face is not being covereed by the text as this is the main focus of the front cover. I have also added text to the inside of the digipak, where the images of the artist are. I have chosen lyrics from her songs, thse lyrics are the ones that are most well known, in order to promote the artist and make the audience aware of these lyrics and link them with the artist.

I am going to add an image to the top left pane in this so that when the audience take the CD out of the case, there is an image there. This image is not going to be of the artist as I think this will make it too over powering. I am not happy with the image on the back of the digipak because I have taken it in a photography studio, and you can tell that the background is a curtain, this does not make it as proffessional as it could be.

First draft of music promo

I think my first day of filming went well; I made sure I branded the artist correctly and as I said in my planning, she wore a dress, however as the weather was not as I had planned it to be, the dress was a wintery one not a summer dress as the weather was not sunny but it was slightly misty and the sky was quite dark.

Because I had planned when my filming days were going to be, I went ahead and filmed it anyway as I did not want to waste time. This meant the background and setting of my music video is not as I had planned it to be, however I think it still works very well and goes with the song and lyrics. There are some bits that I am not 100% happy with, therefore I need to film these again because of silly mistakes like a slight camera jog etc. Dispite this, I got a lot done and this can be shown in the first draft of my music promo:

Third draft of digipak

This is my third draft of my digipak, I have added an image to the right hand side of the back cover, I chose this image because it is different to the one on the front cover, it is a medium long shot which means the audience can see the whole of the artist, rather than just her face as you can see on the front cover. I have also got rid of some if the images that were on the inside as I think it was too crowded and I want to keep it simple, as I have said and found out in my research. I have made the spine black and written the name of the artist and album in order to make it clear to the audience.

Second draft of digipak

This is my second draft of my digipak, I have added an image to the front cover, as well as this I have decided to have more that one image in the middle, and I have created a collage as I have taken a lot of images and using more than one will help promote my artist. Although my first photo shoot was not successful, I have used two of the photos from it as you cannot see the text on the t-shirt my artist is wearing.

Images for my digipak and advert 1

I have done another photoshoot as the photos in my first one were very good and I am very happy with them, however, the artist is wearing a top with bold, very clear writing which destaracts from the atrists face. I have done a similar thing with this photoshoot because I have used many different angles, backgrounds and I have used two different outfits.

A few things to think about for your ancillary tasks: make sure that the images show a variety if shot types/distances and are well-framed. Also, not sure the outfit fits the genre? As for the digipaks, the layouts are quite clear but don't have too many different fonts for the text as it is confusing and doesn't hang together.

Images for my digipak and advert

I have done a photoshoot for my advert and digipak. I am going to choose which images to use for my album by looking at the positioning, lighting, outfit, colours and layout of the image. I have taken a large range of images in order to allow me to get the best suited one, here you can see a selection of the nest ones I have taken. I am also going to try try out different images in my drafts to get the best result.

I think the pros of the first two photos are that the branding and the outfit she is wearing, the clothing is simple and the outfit does not distract from the artist herself. Despite this, the images where she is wearing a green top distract from the artist, therefore if I use these images i will crop the word 'geek' out.

First draft of disk layout

I have started to create the disk and here is the first draft, I have only done the text as the only thing I am going to have on my disk is the name of the artist, this is because it would be very expensive to print images on every single disk that is made. When I do my second draft, I will be adding images and changing the colours.

First draft of digipak

This is the first draft of my album cover, it is very brief and conains minimal images and text. For my second draft I am going to add a main image to the front, this will be an extreme close up and there will only be one image on the front. I have decided this because having looked at other album covers, the majority of album covers have an extreme close up on the front in order to promote the artist and make it clear who it is.

I have displayed the names of all of the songs that are in this album, as I said I would in my planning. The text I have used for this is a very fancy one and it is the same as what I have chosen for the front cover in order to create continuity and make the whole album tie together and look proffesional. I have put it to the side of the album as I said I would in my planning, this is because I think having an image next to the song names will make the album look more proffesional and allow the audience to associate the song names with the artists face.
