Final music promo

Final digipak

Final advert

Question 1 - In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and convention of real media products?

Nat, rather than have a blank screen at the start of this, fill the black space with images etc…

Also, if you are going to discuss codes and conventions, do you need to state what they are first and then explain if and how you have used them.

Thank you Miss, this is now my final question 1.

Question 2 - How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Your reasons for the links you have made are good but distinguish between album and single/video release and use the words ‘promotional package’ to link back to the idea of selling, branding and industry.

Thank you Miss, I have made these changes and this is now my final question 2.

Question 3 - How have you learned from your audience feedback?

This video shows my audience feedback, I responded to it by taking the comments on board and changing my poster, digipak and music promo according to what my audience said as these are the people who will watch my music video and the ones that will have to like it for it to be successful.

A member of my audience thought the images were too bright for the genre, therefore as you can see in my fifth draft, I made the images black and white. However, having done this, I then realized my audience said they thought it was too bright, however by making it black and white made it too dull therefore in my sixth and final draft I made the images coloured but they are dulled from the original.
My audience said that 'new album' 'Coco' and 'out now' was in black writing and they thought that it didn't fit in with the colouring of the rest of the poster, therefore after my fifth draft I changed the colour of this text to pink in order to tie in with the rest of the poster and stand out more. I think this shows that I responded to my audience feedback very well as I have listened to what they have said and changed my poster as well as my digipak according to what my audience have said.

My audience also said that they thought I should put a logo of the record company on the poster in order to make it look more realistic. As you can see in my third draft I have added this in the bottom right hand corner.

As in my audience feedback, you can see that one member of my audience said that my artist should be wearing a pink jumper as this links the fact my artist is singing about love to the colours she is wearing.

The audience feedback question should be ‘what have you learned?’ not ‘how’. Also, you must be much more specific in your answers. Compare how and why audience feedback was important in all 3 stages of the construction and how you used it throughout.

Thank you, I have made the changes and this is my final.

Question 4 - How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

For the media technologies you have understood well what the technology has allowed you do to. Now consider what you have learnt about them as a whole- maybe a slide or section summing up all of the ways technology allows you to be successful.

Thank you, I have added two slides and improved the rest of the text.

Sixth draft of music promo

This is my sixth draft of my music promo, however I have realised that there are some technical issues as just after 1 minute the promo is very jumpy. I have been in the process of editing this in different ways and exporting it in different formats in order to stop it jumping.

FINAL DIGIPAK

Sixth draft of advert

Dolby

The front and inside shot lying down are nice- good range of shot types. I am not sure that the back cover works- the layout is quite blocky and basic- do you need an image of the artist or could you have text on top of a location shot? Also, the other inside pane with all the images I'm not sure works or promotes artist? The colour scheme is quite muted and seems quite a melancholy vibe- is this suitable for the genre of music?

Fifth draft of music promo

This is my fifth draft, I have changed the begining bit and added transitions in between the different shots of her spinning. makes it flow together better and because the singing is slow and relaxed, I think the transitions are in order to make it slow and smooth to go with the music. I have also superimposed her singing 'can you count me in' . I think this makes the video flow even smoother than it did before, as well as making it more interesting.

You have got some synergy across your ancillary tasks. You need to think carefully about the genre of music. Is the mes and text communicating pop? Also think about your shot types - why are you using a mid shot on the advert? Keep going - there is lots of potential here.

Fourth draft of advert

This is my fourth draft of my advert, I have added an image as well as slightly changing the colour of the artists name. I think this makes it stand out more and promote the artist more. At the bottom left of the poster I have added an image of the artists' album, I think this links the album and the tour, using synergy to promote the artist futher.

I think the colour you have chosen for the album release advert is suitabel but at the moment it is fairly plain and needs to show some more skill with integrating text and image and also your use of ICT.

Third draft of advert

This is my third draft, I have added the logo of the record company as well as the address and contact details for the place that the audience need to buy the tickets from. I am now going to add an image as well as ratings showing the audience how godd the album is and how good the tour will be. I am also going to play around with the colours and see what different colours I could use for the text.

Second draft of advert

This is my second draft of my advert, I have changed the colour scheme from black to a light blue as I think this fits with the artist better, as well as it being less dull and boring. I have chamged the font of the artists name, I think this font works better than the prevous one, however I think I am going to change it again as I am not 100% happy with it. I have added text to tell the audience what the tour is called. I have also moved the position of the 'buy your tickets now' text as I am going to add the logo of the record comany as well as other contact details.

First draft of advert

This is the first draft of my tour poster, I have made sure I have put the artists name, the name of her album and tour, as well as the date and location of the tour. At the bottom of the poster I have put a darker area and added text telling the audience to buy tickets. Having looked at other tour posters, the majority of them have this as it encourages the audience to buy tickets, this will result in more sales. I have kept it simple and put all of the text in black and white as this is only my first draft therefore I am going to change it a lot.

Well done for meeting the deadline for your 1st draft. Think about using close-ups from the start so that the artist is being promoted and there is a connection with the audience from the start.

Second draft of music promo

This is my second draft, I have made some small changes in order to perfect what I have already got. First of all, I have added some more footage that I filmed in my second filming. This footage starts at 1.33 and I have got my artist to walk down a long pathway with some trees in the background. Although this is still outside, there is a change of scenery and I think keeping this part of the video outside creates contuinuity and makes the video flow together better. I have also cut off the end of the song as I at the end there was a lot of time where there was just music, as I mentioned in my planning I have cut the end of the song as it is very long and I think my music video will work better finishing on the part where the artist is humming.

Mrs D

You have some good photos here. Put some reflection up regarding their pros and cons. I like the front cover image on the digipak. The integration of text needs work though. Don't forget your deadline for music promo first draft is this afternoon at 4.

Fourth draft of digipak

I have now added the name of the artist and the name of the album to the top half of the spine, this is making it even clearer for the audience to see who's album this is and the branding is more proffessional. I have moved the text on the front cover 'Coco' and 'Colbie Callait' are now more to the right of the album cover, so that the text is more integrated and the artists' face is not being covereed by the text as this is the main focus of the front cover. I have also added text to the inside of the digipak, where the images of the artist are. I have chosen lyrics from her songs, thse lyrics are the ones that are most well known, in order to promote the artist and make the audience aware of these lyrics and link them with the artist.

I am going to add an image to the top left pane in this so that when the audience take the CD out of the case, there is an image there. This image is not going to be of the artist as I think this will make it too over powering. I am not happy with the image on the back of the digipak because I have taken it in a photography studio, and you can tell that the background is a curtain, this does not make it as proffessional as it could be.

First draft of music promo

I think my first day of filming went well; I made sure I branded the artist correctly and as I said in my planning, she wore a dress, however as the weather was not as I had planned it to be, the dress was a wintery one not a summer dress as the weather was not sunny but it was slightly misty and the sky was quite dark.

Because I had planned when my filming days were going to be, I went ahead and filmed it anyway as I did not want to waste time. This meant the background and setting of my music video is not as I had planned it to be, however I think it still works very well and goes with the song and lyrics. There are some bits that I am not 100% happy with, therefore I need to film these again because of silly mistakes like a slight camera jog etc. Dispite this, I got a lot done and this can be shown in the first draft of my music promo:

Third draft of digipak

This is my third draft of my digipak, I have added an image to the right hand side of the back cover, I chose this image because it is different to the one on the front cover, it is a medium long shot which means the audience can see the whole of the artist, rather than just her face as you can see on the front cover. I have also got rid of some if the images that were on the inside as I think it was too crowded and I want to keep it simple, as I have said and found out in my research. I have made the spine black and written the name of the artist and album in order to make it clear to the audience.

Second draft of digipak

This is my second draft of my digipak, I have added an image to the front cover, as well as this I have decided to have more that one image in the middle, and I have created a collage as I have taken a lot of images and using more than one will help promote my artist. Although my first photo shoot was not successful, I have used two of the photos from it as you cannot see the text on the t-shirt my artist is wearing.

Images for my digipak and advert 1

I have done another photoshoot as the photos in my first one were very good and I am very happy with them, however, the artist is wearing a top with bold, very clear writing which destaracts from the atrists face. I have done a similar thing with this photoshoot because I have used many different angles, backgrounds and I have used two different outfits.

Dolby

A few things to think about for your ancillary tasks: make sure that the images show a variety if shot types/distances and are well-framed. Also, not sure the outfit fits the genre? As for the digipaks, the layouts are quite clear but don't have too many different fonts for the text as it is confusing and doesn't hang together.

Images for my digipak and advert

I have done a photoshoot for my advert and digipak. I am going to choose which images to use for my album by looking at the positioning, lighting, outfit, colours and layout of the image. I have taken a large range of images in order to allow me to get the best suited one, here you can see a selection of the nest ones I have taken. I am also going to try try out different images in my drafts to get the best result.

I think the pros of the first two photos are that the branding and the outfit she is wearing, the clothing is simple and the outfit does not distract from the artist herself. Despite this, the images where she is wearing a green top distract from the artist, therefore if I use these images i will crop the word 'geek' out.
